NEW INITIATIVES COMING SOON

Stories of Hope Campaign

UBC Cancer Association is starting a ‘Stories of Hope’ Campaign. Our goal is to highlight and empower cancer survivors by sharing their stories about how cancer has impacted and shaped their life. Click the button below to participate and share your story.

Retired Initiatives

The initiatives listed below are initiatives previously done at UBC Cancer Association. Does one of these initiatives interest you? We’re looking for individuals to start them up again.

BIOL 112 Exam Packs

We’re selling practice questions for a first-year biology course on campus, to help raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society and for our Association to use for our other projects and goals.

Cancer Decoded

Do you want to learn more about cancer? Curious about breakthroughs in cancer research? Check out Cancer Decoded, a comic series that breaks down complex scientific ideas into engaging pieces that can be easily understood by anyone.

UBC Dog Calendar

This is a fundraising project partnered with UBC Relay for Life, an organization that works closely with the Canadian Cancer Society to host a community Relay for Life at the UBC campus. Relay for Life is an annual event to recognize the success of cancer research, honour those living with cancer and remember those we lost to cancer. UBC Dog Calendar contains UBC dates and deadlines and features various campus dogs!

UBC Relay for Life

Relay for Life is an annual event to recognize the success of cancer research, honour those living with cancer and remember those we lost to cancer. Relay For Life is a festival-like fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track or designated path. Each team taking part is asked to have at least one member on the track at all times to symbolize the ongoing fight against cancer.

Grief Support Group

The UBCCA is starting a student run grief support group on campus. The goal for this support group is to provide bereaved students with a space to talk about their losses and receive support from others who have had similar experiences. We hope to create an atmosphere that normalizes death to make a comfortable environment to grieve, heal, and support each other.

Stories of UBC

Stories of UBC is a photo series showing the many ways cancer has affected us. Inspired by the much loved photos “Humans of New York”, each photo is accompanied by pieces of wisdom from the UBC community.
