Cuts for Cancer

Your Impact This 2017

Longer than a Football Field

Over a football field in length of ponytails collected!

According to Wigs for Kids, it takes 10 – 12 ponytails to make a wig. And since it’s at least 8″ per ponytail, that’s around 80″ per 10 ponytails which is as many as

wigs for sick children in B.C.

Costing around $1,000-$3,000 for a real human hair wig, it’s a heavy financial burden on families already stretched thin caring for their sick child. If only 20 wigs are made, that’s at least

dollars.

Inches of Hair

"My wig was my escape from the hospital life and my escape from cancer. When I put it on, I no longer had cancer I was simply me living my life doing the things that made me happy."
– A recipient through the Wigs for Kids program

Dollars Raised

No Ponytail? No Problem!

Not all participants had 8″ of undyed hair to give out – instead, regular haircuts could be had for $25, or $15 for a buzzcut, with each and every dollar going to the Canadian Cancer Society. One of our participants even raised an impressive $530 to get rid of his man-bun!

Professional Hairdressing

On The Fringe Hair Design provided us with not only a venue to host our event through, but also with 6 highly trained, professional hairdressers, and their excellent touch-up guarantee.

That’s right – participants not satisfied with their haircut were welcomed back to the salon for touchups for free. Not only that, On The Fringe Hair Design collected pony tails throughout the year that were passed onto us for this year’s Cuts for Cancer.

From A Massive Turn-Out

There were so many participants this year that we had to turn people away – we’re extremely sorry for that! We were so busy that our On The Fringe hairdressers had to do a complete cut-a-thon, barely getting a moment to rest before working on the neverending line of participants.

To Countless Volunteers

From planning to posters to packing hair, Cuts for Cancer wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless work put in by UBC Cancer Association members.

None of this would
have been possible without

YOU

... so thank you!
